Footprints and Pictures

Two weeks in Japan! Back two days ago.  The International Ceramics Festival in Mino, Gifu Prefecture, was inspiring and humbling. Well, anything about ceramics that I looked at seemed to give me pause for reflection and possible ways forward. I have to admit that my personal making raison d’être is not particularly grounded in a Japanese aesthetic, i.e. The Tea Ceremony, but I aspire towards good practice, and will take ideas from any sources which move my own ideas forward. My goodness, there were some nice folks who attended the Opening Ceremony and Awards from far-flung spots. Belgium, Toronto, Switzerland, South Africa.  I wish that I could have stayed longer. I so enjoyed meeting the Japanese participants who attended and were prize winners. What a treat to chat with them and offer congratulations. We all received Goody Bags from the organizing committee with a splendid catalogue and a diploma of recognition/participation.
